Korean actress and model Oh In-hye died Monday after being found unconscious in her home. She was 36.
Police in the city of Incheon told local media that they responded to a call from Oh’s friend who had found the actress unconscious in her home on Monday. Oh was taken to Inha University Hospital but died of a cardiac arrest Monday evening. The circumstances surrounding Oh’s death are being investigated but police did reveal that Oh had been suffering from depression.
Oh made her feature debut in the 2011 drama Sin of a Family. She went on to star in films such as Red Vacance Black Wedding (2011), 2013’s Secret Travel (Sowon taeksi) and Janus: Two Faces of Desire (2014) as well as the television dramas Horse Doctor (2012) and Yeonnam-dong 539 (2018). Oh worked more sporadically in film and television in recent years and had transitioned to beauty vlogging on YouTube.
Oh’s death is the latest tragedy to hit South Korea’s entertainment industry. Earlier this year, Yohan, a member of the K-pop band TST, died at 28. In recent years, a host of young stars have died including SHINee member Jonghyun, who died by suicide in 2017, and singer-actress Goo Hara and singer Sulli, who both died by suicide last year.
